- Holly Grove Fire Department -

  Thank you for your interest in joining Holly Grove Fire Department. HGFD is a combination fire department made up mostly of volunteers and some paid personnel that work Monday through Saturday. Stop by the fire station located at 2211 East Holly Grove Road Lexington NC and pick up and then return an application packet. It is imperative that you complete and return all information to the Holly Grove Fire Department as soon as possible to avoid delay in the processing of your application. All applicants should submit their applications to the Fire Station between 7 am and 6 pm Monday through Friday and Saturday 10 am and 6 pm.   ​Only those applicants which have submitted completed packets with all copies of forms and documents requested in the application packet, passed a physical screening test, attended 3 Tuesday night meetings (which are at 7 pm) and those with a DMV check that passes the department standards will be considered for an oral interview with the Fire Chief.  ​ ​Thank you for your interest with the Holly Grove Fire Department.

Probationary Firefighter:    

The probationary firefighter will have a green shield (rookie) so you can be identified on an incident scene.  This is for your safety.  The probationary firefighter time period is 3 months.  After 3 months you will be voted on by the Holly Grove Board of Directors.  You will remain a Probationary Firefighter and the green rookie shield will remain.  

Firefighter:   

A Probationary Firefighter will become a Firefighter after completing the 1403 and Haz-Mat operations classes.  There will be a test administered by the Holly Grove Officers.  If there is a satisfactory pass given by the officers the green shield will be removed from your helmet.  Firefighter responsibilities are stated in the SOG book section 21.06 - 21.09.  

Firefighter I:   

Your status will be come Firefighter I upon completion of the NC Firefighter I certification.  

Firefighter II:   

Your status will become Firefighter II upon completion of the NC Firefighter II certification.  

Driver I:   

The status of Driver can be added to your title if you meet the following requirements. 

1.  21 years of age or older 

2.  1 year of service to Holly Grove Fire Department 

3.  Satisfactory completion of Emergency Vehicle Driver Class 

​4.  NC Drivers License Classified B 

5.  Satisfactory completion of Holly Grove Fire Department driver training program. 

6.  Checked off to drive each apparatus by the Holly Grove Officers.  

Driver II:   

The status of Driver II can be achieved by satisfactory completing NC Driver/Operator certification.
